Our first sightseeing trip in Europe. Poland.

Our first real excursion to Europe was to Poland to celebrate the New Year 2010.

It was a truly legendary journey, because we:
– made our way to Poland by two cars from Kiev through snow, ice and cold,
– for a very long time passed the border with Poland,
– then tediously rolled through the territory of Poland with the allowed low speed,
– then frozen to the condition of snowmen and ran to the nearest store to buy warm outerwear (some people decided that a short sheepskin coat, not covering the backside, is enough for a trip in the winter 🙂 )
– made a lot of photos of winter Poland
– were pleased to visit Warsaw, Krakow and Velichka (where we descended into the salt mine, getting crazy impressions of this UNESCO sight),
– tried different Polish dishes,
– lost in Warsaw and could not find our hotel,
– escaped in horror from a hotel in Krakow.

I’ll tell you more about hotels.

In Warsaw, we’ve stayed at the Intercontinental Warsaw Hotel.
It was charming and wonderful experience!

Spacious room with all the necessary amenities and a great bathroom with a crazy view of the city and surrounding skyscrapers.

Truly excellent breakfast with impeccable service, excellent choice and quality, accompanied by playing of the piano player and a glass of champagne.

A wonderful relaxation area with an indoor pool and saunas on the top floor of the hotel (access was included in the room rate). From there you can find a stunning view of the entire city.

In general, I left the hotel with great regret, and, as it turned out, not for nothing 🙂

In Krakow, a Novotel hotel was booked (on the advice of a travel agent, without listening to our flair, which is a bad choice), in which we at first have moved from a standard room to a superior room (for an extra charge), but after visit of public places we’ve realized that everything was so old and in a terrible condition, especially our favorite spa area. So we’ve checked-out of the hotel 🙂 (and still I can’t stay in hotels of this network, I home some kind of horror attacks when I see this name 🙂 ).

I’ve immediately booked the Sheraton hotel that I’ve noted earlier, where we moved.
It was hit in the top ten!
Excellent, cozy, comfortable, warm, beautiful and very tasty.
Very comfortable room with a beautiful view.

Excellent breakfasts with good service in a huge beautiful restaurant designed as a winter garden.

Good spa area with a pool, relaxation area and various saunas (included in the room rate).
Definitely a hotel with a great soul and a very cozy atmosphere. Would go back there for sure!

It was a very busy trip with 3 visited hotels. And it was great!

We’ve liked our walks around Warsaw and Krakow too!
