Hotel Review: Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada. Part 2

I continue my review of our first hotel in sea vacation in Egypt in 2019 🙂

Infrastructure.
The main restaurant, a la carte restaurants (by appointment for free), a beach restaurant for afternoon snacks, drinks and ice cream (but it is very hot in the afternoon, so you need to consider it for those who cannot stand the heat with food).

There are also a number of bars that serve mainly local drinks and from imported alcohol there is only Absolut vodka, Beefeater gin. Cocktails are clearly not a strong point of the hotel, so I was drinking only gin and tonic and bloody Mary) For lovers of a cocktail in a pleasant atmosphere, I advise you to visit the Niche bar.

For guests staying on the Premium ALL concept, drinks with an star in the bar menu are free.

There is an amphitheater with evening performances.

Near the hotel there is a beautiful promenade that will lead you to the center of the Sahl Hasheesh.

Pools.
The pools are the pride of the hotel and the place for a lot of photos))

The main infinity pool is the hallmark of the hotel.

There are 2 good pools on either side of the main pool: one near the adult building, respectively, only for adults,

the second in the family one for families with children.

Closer to the beach in the bushes hides a small pool for relaxation.

And the quietest, but great pool is the seawater pool at the SPA center. A wonderful quiet place for relaxation but only a few people know about it or simply didn’t come there.

You can take towels without cards.

The hotel’s SPA deserves special praise. The price includes use of the gym, a spacious sauna and steam room, a good hammam with properly warm stones, a small jacuzzi. There you can leave things in the locker. From the wellness area there is a passage through the SPA tunnel to the pool, which I wrote about above.

Beach.
The huge beach is also divided into a family zone, where a stationary pier at sea can be found,

as well as an adult-only zone.

On the beach, as around the pools, there is a drink service, the waiters are doing a great job and run around all the day.

Sun beds with mattresses, good size umbrellas.

The trouble of the beach, and the whole region is a strong wind, which is constantly trying to blow you away.

Because of the wind, the water in the sea is constantly muddy. There is nothing for lovers of good snorkeling here: a small wall of the reef towards the Premier le Reve hotel is not very colored; in 3 years, coral has clearly become worse, unfortunately.

But for lovers of just the sea with a gentle entrance, the choice of this hotel would be a great solution.

Food.
Yes, there is a lot of food (3 times a day in the main restaurant), à la carte lunches by the beach, dinners in various a la carte restaurants. But there is almost no delicious food in main restaraunt. Standard set, not very successful preparation. And over 3 years, the food level in the main restaurant has become much worse.

We’ve managed to get for dinner in the Italian à la carte that we’ve liked the last time. Everything is fine here, both with the menu and with the quality of cooking, and with the service as before. The only problems we’ve had, that the husband’s lamb was overcooked (although the waiter made a note that medium rare was needed), and the panacotta turned out to be just a shake, but otherwise I would like to say a big thank you to the team of this restaurant.

In 2016, we’ve visited the rest of the a la carte restaurants and we did not like it there, so I will not write about them. Perhaps this is a matter of taste, and I recommend that you to try the menu of these restaurants, since in the main restaurant the level of food has dropped significantly over 3 years.

Since we were at the hotel after 11 pm, I was glad to see a night snack in the concept. It turned out that it did not work, and we were offered to bring dinner to the room. As a result the dinner did not come.

Infrastructure for children.
A separate kingdom has been made near family building for children: a mini club, which is broadcast from the TV in the room, and a pool with children’s slides and a playground.

Changes.
There were VERY many guests (the reception reported a 60% load of the hotel) and as a result the hotel turned into a kind of Turkish hotel reservation. Everywhere is noisy, especially in the main restaurant. A lot of local Arab families and representatives of travel agencies who constantly stay at the hotel during their tour of Hurghada hotels.

My recomendations.
The hotel is suitable for lovers of large hotels with infrastructure and shallow sea.

Our impressions of 2016 were much better than in 2019. I am glad that we’ve spent only 2 nights at the hotel, since at the moment its concept is not suitable for us.
