Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort: check-in and room

Maxx Royal Golf Resort Belek

The third hotel on our trip to Antalya and Belek in January 2022 was the legendary Maxx Royal in Belek. I didn’t even intend to come here, but when I saw a good price for the hotel, I decided that it was time for us to get impressions from it and, of course, compare it with its longtime competitor Regnum Carya 🙂 (I will devote a separate post to this comparison, it will be fun, I promise 🙂 ).

It turned out very strange with this hotel: everything that I read about it, watched photos and videos, created an image about it, which in reality turned out to be completely different.

The first impressions of this hotel start with the Max Assistants, the service that will accompany you during your stay at this hotel. A few days later, I received a welcome message from them via watsapp.

The first emotions from the hotel come when you get into its lobby for the first time. Here I was generally at a loss at first: there are a lot of places, but little beauty, little place where to sit down, it is not clear. Here our assistant found us and arranged our check-in. At the same time, it was noisy and completely uncomfortable around (a feeling that often accompanied us during our stay at this hotel).

After that, we went to our room, accompanied by our assistant. We failed to understand the numbering of the rooms, we just had to try to remember our number of room and its location. The room is located on the left side of the building, away from the center, which is important, because the central rooms have more noise from the sounds of music and people from the corridor and lobby, as are located near a vertical abyss from the lower floors to the upper floors.

The elevators are located in several places, but you have to wait for them, because there are a lot of people who want to ride in them, and they can’t cope with the load.

The room was spacious, but very strange. Having a huge area (80 m), it turned out to be absolutely inconvenient to use.

There is almost no corridor, and therefore all the sounds from the corridor are perfectly audible in the room, because the door is very thin and has a lot of gaps.

The bathroom is narrow but spacious. There is a bathroom and shower. The toilet is located separately, but you can feel somehow cramped in it 🙂 2 washbasins, but with one soap holder (wash your hands in turn, what’s wrong) 🙂 A set of everything you need and Bottega Venetta cosmetics (I tried to understand it, but didn’t like the smell, nor its quality).

And the most important disappointment from the room is an absolutely small and uncomfortable dressing room! It fits only one suitcase (cabin size), the second had to be placed in the room.

But the very idea of the dressing room is good – it closes with an electronic lock with the code, which is very convenient: you piled all the things in a mountain and hid them behind the door so that no one would see.

There is a minibar with a good but standard selection of drinks. Also a tea and coffee set are there. There we were greeted by a welcome from the hotel in the form of a plate of fruit.

The room has a small table and chair, a small sofa, a bed with bedside tables, a TV and nothing else. We had to drag chairs from the balcony into the room to make it more convenient to use as a suitcase had its place on the couch.

The bed turned out to be good, but I can’t call it large and very spacious. Yes, and it was kind of unstable.

There are the floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire width of the room. On the one hand, this is a good idea, because it’s nice to look out the windows from the bed (although the TV was in the way), but on the other hand, this is a bad idea, because during thunderstorms, rain and hurricanes, they shook with such force that I was afraid that they simply could not withstand such pressure. And at the same time, the huge cracks of the windows and the goals of the doors made such terrible sounds that I had to caulk them every evening with napkins 🙁

The balcony is spacious, but the view is not particularly joyful – on the neighboring hotel, the building of the congress center and in the distance to the mountains. At the same time, I understood that all the rooms look either at the neighboring hotels (which are located very close) or at the hotel territory and the sea behind it.

In general, it seems to me that this room and an entire hotel, is absolutely not created for off-season holidays: there was an uncomfortable and unsafe feeling all the time.

Yes, and we did not understand why it was necessary to make a room of such a size with such a terrible planning of its area.

Well, where is the beauty and comfort? It seems that the designers and architects did not participate in the planning of this room at all, and probably the hotel as a whole.

We immediately asked the assistants that we did not need cleaning, only asked to change towels and so on. But in the evenings, the staff managed to get into the room, make the bed and leave a chocolate bar on the pillow.

Well, we went to get acquainted with the hotel and have some lunch.
I will talk about this in my next review. To be continued
