We’ve got to this hotel almost by accident, because I was unable to add another night at a hotel in Bensberg (it was full) when I realized that we would not get to Paris according to the original plan, i.e. by train.
I’ve immediately liked it for its location and views of the Rhine, as well as the fact that we like to relax in a hotel of this chain in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
I booked 1 night on the hotel’s website thanks to promotion for Hyatt members.
I choose a Regency Club room with access to the club lounge with these additional advantages:
– separate check-in / check-out desk
– rooms on the upper floors
– lounge with breakfast, drinks and evening snacks with alcohol
The most unpleasant impression we had was a check-in on Club’s reception. At 13.00. we were told that the room was not ready, and we went for a walk. Returning at 15.00., we found a new employee who said that the room was still not ready. We asked her to clarify how long we still have to wait, she turned to her colleague, whoafter 10 minutes of searching something in the computer found that our room was ready.
The room is spacious, absolutely faceless, in the style that a room in a chain hotel relies on. The view from the room was in a quiet courtyard of the hotel.
The bed is comfortable, the bedding is excellent.
The windows did not open, it was not possible to turn on the air conditioning for cooling, it constantly drove warm air.
There is a separate wardrobe.
In the room is a very spacious and nice bathroom, obviously after renovation. It has a bath and shower, as well as everything you need for washing, etc.
Club Lounge is a very popular place where in the mornings, and especially in the evenings, guests do not have enough seats, and therefore they have to sit in neighboring meeting rooms.
It seemed to us that the Club lounge was not designed for such a number of guests, this was also clear from how quickly all the food ended, and the guests had to wait until the food was replenished again.
It seems to me that the hotel needs to pay attention to the faster service of the club lounge.
Breakfast is standard, the choice is not very large, tea and coffee is excellent. Soft drinks are available throughout the day. After lunch, there are tea and cookies. In the evening, alcoholic drinks (including sparkling wine) and snacks (several types of appetizers and salads, several types of desserts, main course, cheeses and nuts) are served.
An idea of eating in the lounge was already known to us, but we expected a higher quality of food.
In general, the hotel is quite pleasant, although it feels like it already needs a good renovation, especially in the SPA complex.
The SPA is located on the ground floor and includes an indoor pool with sunbeds around and a sauna area (sauna and steam room).
Well, the strangest thing seemed to us that the beautiful Christmas trees decorating the hotel lobby were quickly dismantled on December 30th in the afternoon. We barely managed to photograph them 🙂
I understand that Germany has its own attitude to the New Year, but still the hotel is a representative of the international brand, where many people of the world came to celebrate the New Year, expecting to see the usual New Year trees and decorations.
I recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a best location and views in Cologne.
