Why does Ryanair fly with empty planes?

Most recently, I wrote that Ryanair canceled all flights for the period of April-May 2020 and landed almost all of its 451 aircraft, except for a few that are gradually flying from Ireland to the UK.

And here Simple Flying aviation news portal noticed that almost every day a part of the Ryanair fleet flies around airports, where it landed planes, or even for longer distances.

For example, they detected such flights in Portugal and Poland. Aircraft fly empty, but it is not clear why?

As it turned out, Ryanair does this on purpose to not have additional huge costs in near future.

If the plane has been standing on the ground for a long time, then before you lift it into the air, it will need to get permission and pass a technical check, which means it will incur large costs.

Ryanair drives planes for short distances, so that they are always in the right condition, and they are ready to make the needed flight at any time, for example, for the delivery of medical supplies.

This was stated in the airline announcement that there are such rules according to the Boeing protocols and the requirements of the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The first time I hear about this, a very interesting practice. I hope you were interested too 🙂
